Andreia Barreiro

Hello and welcome! I’m Andreia Barreiro, founder and owner of Plus Psychotherapy.

I’m passionate about journeying with people and living life to the full.

I believe that every single human being, regardless of their faith, behaviour, ethnic background, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression, is created in God’s image. I believe in the intrinsic value of every person, and that everyone is worthy of love, kindness and respect.

When I was younger, I was exposed to the teachings of Jesus Christ through the Christian church. Since then, I continue to experience grace in a way that is difficult to put into words. I keep learning that, in spite of all my shortcomings and mistakes, I am deeply loved and deeply known. This awareness stems from a relationship with the living God, releases me to be fully myself and to share that experience with those around me.

Like most people, I am no stranger to fear and worry. My personal experience as a third culture individual, an immigrant and an entrepreneur gives me a keen perspective on the issues that may be impacting you today. If you’re struggling with these or other vulnerable emotions, let me assure you, you are not alone.

In my experience, the tenacity to not be defined by fear, and the courage to move forward with it, are two crucial tools to overcome life’s challenges. It’s a difficult and extremely rewarding process. Dr. Susan David said it best, “Discomfort is the price of admission to a meaningful life.” My ultimate desire for you is that you can live life to the fullest, even though aligning your behaviour with your goals and values may be a tough process. My hope is that, in spite of the discomfort, you get to experience a life of deep joy, love, and peace.
